Great
importance is attached to the use of only top quality materials
and a high standard of workmanship. This begins with the manufacture
of the backpost, during which finger-jointed solid spruce and Delignit
are used to form the backpost with glue-mounted Delignit pin block.
After all, it is the backpost with bearing that forms the basis
for the exact conditions of camber and tension in the soundboard.
And the secret of that unmistakable, transparent SEILER sound is
to be found here, in SEILER's patented membrator soundboard. This
is why only narrow-ringed, mountain spruce is used - selected by
experienced wood experts and subjected to a special drying process.
Rings for resonance
Experience
and inventiveness, as well as the craftsmanship passed on from generation
to generation, are still indispensable to the success of SEILER
grands and uprights. After all, no amount of state-of-the-art technology
can replace the dexterity and skills of our piano builders. Over
100 different operations are required to turn the numerous, precision-made
parts into a "genuine SEILER". This elaborate process is necessary
in order to ensure the durability and optimum playing capacity of
all SEILER instruments for decades to come.
Tailor-made precision and high perfection
Once
the backpost is ready, the ribs and bridges are carefully glued
on and the soundboard precision-tensioned using the Tonal Volume
Stabilizer - yet another SEILER patent. It is this ten- sion- ing
which is so vital to the transparent sound of the instrument and
its retention of value for decades to come.
Precision work and a desire for perfection right down to the last
detail are required for all the operations to follow, whether it
be the alignment of the iron frame with the holes for the tuning
pins, the tightening of the descant, treble and bass strings, or
the installation and precision positioning of the action inside
the cabinet.
Built for a small eternity
Such work would
be inconceivable without the painstaking meticulousness of our piano
builders, whose talent and know-how are coupled with a keen sense
of their responsibility and the desire to make every SEILER instrument
a masterpiece in the art of piano making. And even if these technical
details are scarcely visible to SEILER customers across the globe,
they are nevertheless audible. A single note is all that is required
and it's "love at first sound".
